I was inspired by a great hippie style jacket I saw that had a shaggy collar. I enjoyed the contrast of a dress blazer with a distinct collar that was reaching out and begging to be seen. With this image in my creative minds-eye, I embarked on experimenting with making this original cedar bark collar. I sewed seven shell buttons onto the jacket and used loops strategically placed on the cedar collar to be attached and thereby removable for washing the jacket. Thank you to this Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Staff Member in Ottawa for kindly modeling this one-of-a-kind re-cultured blazer.
